Second Chances

A Romance Writers of America® Collection

Do you believe in second chances?

Romance Writers of America brings together seventeen of today’s hottest authors in an anthology of never-before-published tales that reveal true love always deserves a happy ending. One of those seventeen “hot” authors is none other than Mermaid Kerri Carpenter, aka: moi! I’m absolutely thrilled that my short story, HOMECOMING, is included in this anthology. With so many stories in one place, there is definitely something for everyone who reads romance: contemporary, historical, young adult, etc.

“I came to Cherrydale for a second chance. And I know just where to get it.”

Homecoming Blurb

With only two weeks until she starts law school, Lana Greene has one goal. She’s returning to her hometown of Cherrydale for a second chance at hooking up with her high school crush, Wesley Givens. After all, Lana almost hooked up with Wes after their senior prom. Too bad her lifelong best friend, Ford Campbell, has other ideas. He wants to show her that he’s the second chance she’s been waiting for all along.

  1. My BFF Kelly and I were inseparable in high school, even though she was a science geek and I ran with the drama club. We’re still besties today, always within reach (usually by phone) to cheer each other on or up. When I found a box of our notes from high school, I couldn’t resist and shared it with her then-teenaged kids. We all laughed until we cried, both Kelly and I refusing to explain what some of the secret messages meant. LOL

    1. OMG – I love, love, love that you shared those notes with the kids. A couple years ago one of my HS BFFs found all of our notes. Honestly, I’m not sure how we ever did well in class!

  2. My high school BFFs were Amber and Danielle. They are still my BFFs even though we haven’t lived in the same place since we were 18. In fact, I’m going to visit one of them this weekend – can’t wait!

  3. Kerri Hero Mermaid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Harry P. Carpenter just brought a little tear to my eye. A super happy tear. You know, you are the one who gave him his second chance when you rescued him and so it’s no surprise to me that he stayed up late reading Mommy’s newest story. I love you both. This story is amazing. It is probably one of your funniest, cutest that I’ve read. I hope everyone reads it and smiles. Good luck to the lucky person who wins a copy!!!!

    1. Carlene-Hero – you made me tear up! Love you.
      P.S.
Harry just got a new bed for when he visits me at day job.

  4. Seeing as how I went to 2 different high schools, I have a couple. Suzanne was my BFF at Santana. Lisa was my ride or die at Lincoln Prep HS. I shared so many uniquely different life experiences with each of them. Love those girls!

  5. Congrats on your Second Chances collection release today! Can’t wait to get my copy & read your Homecoming story & all the others. I love cutie pie Harry’s pitch! My high school BFF was Nola & we even married the same guy! She died young but put a lot of living into her short life. We’ll remember her at our 50th class reunion next year. CJ

    1. Hi CJ – wow! I don’t even know what to say to that. You two must have been incredibly tight. How lovely that you are honoring her at your reunion! 😉

  6. Congratulations on your latest release Kerri! I love that with close friends you can go months, even years, without actually seeing each other, but every time you get together you just pick up where you left off.

    1. Thanks Dana-Mermaid! That is wonderful, isn’t it! I’m visiting one of my BFFs from high school right now and we always have the best time.
