Party Time in the Lagoon! Loni Lynne #Book Release and #Giveaway!

Wanted-1600Y’all I am super excited to have cornered our own Loni Lynne in the lagoon. She’s getting tipsy on the One Fin Cosmopolitan, so you know she’s going to spill the goods. Why is she in such a party-down mood? Because her debut novelย Wanted: One Ghostย was released this week and it’s time to celebrate.

Since it’s always 5 p.m. in the Waterworld Mermaid lagoon, grab yourself an adult beverage and join the conversation with Loni. And be sure to play along in the comments for a chance to win Loni’s debut novel,ย Wanted: One Ghost.

OK, I have to ask about your writing space. Where does the magic happen?

My daughter’s former bedroom which now has my L- shaped writing desk, an aerobics ball I use for a chair and three book shelves loaded with romance books and research books.

I’m going to totally out you because you’re one of the more quiet mermaids in the lagoon. I promise not to share it with the world *wink*, but what are three things about you that would surprise other people?

Loni Lynne 5 p12756ta105474_251.) One of my first jobs was as a radio DJ for a country music station out in western Oklahoma.

2.) I joined the Navy right after high school and tried out for Navy Diver when they started to accept women in the program…I didn’t make it.

3.) Was stationed for four years in Hawaii.

Loni, you have led an interesting life, which is great for a writer. ๐Ÿ™‚ How did you get your idea for Wanted: One Ghost?

After a few ghost tours I wondered what the ghosts would think or do so I created my own version of ideas.

ย If you could divine history by touching objects, like your heroine April, what event or person would you like to know more about?

I’ve always had a thing for Revolutionary War era. I would have loved to sit in on the signing of the Declaration of Independence or sat and talked with Ben Franklin.

James, your hero, is a ghost/ladies man. That’s quite a combination. What inspired you?

I consider that era so full of charming gentlemen. He was a combination of some of the historical romance heroes I read in the 1980’s and 90’s.

Are you a history buff? If so, what’s your favorite era and why?

To read about and study, I love Colonial American and Westward Expansion. I grew up in the Midwest and was fascinated when my family moved and traveled frequently around the country. First thing we did was check out local museums.

For music/decor I love vintage/1920’s-1950’s. Big Band and the old crooners.

OK, now for the most important question ever. Historical hotties (i.e. who’d you rather): A dashing Duke or a brawny Viking?

A dashing Duke. Dark hair, charming and elegant.

Who’s ready to get their hands on a copy ofย Wanted: One Ghost? Yay! I want to giveaway a digital copy to one lucky commenter (open internationally) who answers this question:ย If you could divine history by touching objects, like April- the heroine in Wanted: One Ghost, what event or person would you like to know more about?

Put your answer in the comments and I’ll pick a winner at random on Monday.

Wanted: One Ghostย

Wanted-1600Stuck in ghostly limbo for 238 years, James Addison can’t move on to an afterlife.ย  After being falsely accused of treason and executed, fate’s cursed him to remain an earth-bound specter until he meets a historian sent to research his past.

Distrustful of fate,ย Dr. April Branford wants to be taken seriously, but her unique ability to divine history by touching objects seriously compromises her credibility.ย Her latest assignment?ย  James Addison, a legendary colonial ladies’ man with a shadowy past.ย  Without much to go on, she doesn’t hold out much hope to discover the man behind the legend until the day she accidentally touches him and brings him back to life.

ย With the help of family and ghosts from Jamesโ€™s past, they unravel the truth. But after falling in love and with time running out, itโ€™s hard for April to believe in fate and a future where forever is now.

    1. Mary Jo,
Don’t let it fool you–she’s still here (off and on) but moved into the finished basement from her old room so she could have a private bathroom. LOL. Thank you for stopping in!
      Hugs!

  1. Haha, love Mary Jo’s comment ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi Loni Mermaid! I think Avery Mermaid went pretty easy on outing you–those were all very COOL things you’ve done, now I’m even more enamored my friend.
I already own my copy of Wanted One Ghost but I couldn’t pass up the chance to answer this awesome question. I think it would be so cool to touch Elvis Presley’s microphone and see what he saw and feel what he felt up there on stage.
    Good luck and CONGRATS!!!!!

  2. Elvis Presley! Oh yea! I would have loved to hear him sing live. A couple of my favorite songs of his are, “In the Ghetto” and “How Great Thou Art”. He was so passionate when he sang!
Thank you for buying my book! I hope you enjoy! (If you haven’t read it already.)

All the best to you, sweet sis!

  3. Avery! Good morning! And thank you so much for doing this interview! Great job and you KNOW I am ‘raising my cup of vanilla bean latte to you’ this morning!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    xoxoxox

I’m slapping my tail fin in the water with excitement! Thank you!!!

  4. Like Carlene I have read and enjoyed this book but wanted to answer this question. I would have loved to be with John Glenn when he made that first step on the moon.

    1. Vicki,
Wow! Wouldn’t that have been something?! I think I would have liked to have been around those great men: Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, Gus Grissom–they were the men who made modern history and science come to life!

Thank you for splashing in the lagoon with us today! And Thank You for purchasing my book!! ๐Ÿ˜€

      So happy you enjoyed it!

  5. Even though I’m afraid of colonial people I still LOVE Loni-Mermaid and I’m sooooo freaking excited for this book!!!!!!!!!

I’m obsessed with two people: Alfred Hitchcock and Anne Boleyn. Ob-freaking-sessed!

Great interview, ladies!!! And congrats again, to Loni-poo! Big glitter toss!

    1. Thank you Kerri! I love you, too!:D

Afraid of colonial people? Did you have a horrible experience with them? Inquiring minds want to know that story! And yet Alfred Hitchcock is on your ‘obsessed’ list? Hmmm…. interesting. There is a story here.

I love the whole era of Henry the VIII and Anne Boleyn was such a fascinating character. How much of what we read about her is true? I always wondered what it might be like to meet her ‘ghost’.

Hugs to you from your mer-sis covered in all the glitter!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Ooooh, I would totally touch James and bring him back. I’m with you on the dashing, gentlemanly ladies man. Or rakes. I always loved that term. Have always wanted to use it in my books, but it never really fits into my contemporaries. ๐Ÿ™‚
Of course the brawny Viking sounds kinda good too. I’m wishy-washy on my heroes. It’s really the heart that matters in the end.
I’m also a big fan of the late crooners. I cried when Frank Sinatra died.
Good luck on your book, Loni! It sounds like the perfect book to curl up with in this nasty, rainy weather.

  7. Kim,
I’ve read both vikings and dashing dukes. Though I am still partial to the duke–there is something very sexy about viking warriors–Thor comes to mind. I wouldn’t kick him out of my room. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yet, maybe because it’s my love for the late crooners and a bit of class that I find myself drawn to classy men. I really love seeing a man dressed in tux or a nice suit that is tailored to his fit. The aire of sophistication…I don’t know. Difficult to say.

I hope you get a chance to curl up with Wanted: One Ghost (or any good book) in this weather.

    Big hugs and smooches!

  8. It’s a uniform thing…everyone looks great in a uniform. By the way, where are all the men…Real Men love Wanted: One Ghost !!!
May I touch Blaze Starr? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Gldglvr,
Thank you for stopping by! Yes…real men should ‘love’ Wanted: One Ghost! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I guess it is a uniform issue. There is something about a man in uniform. ๐Ÿ˜€

      Blaze Starr? Really…hmmm. Fascinating.

Thanks again for taking a dip in the Mermaid Lagoon with us today!

  9. Diana,
That is really sweet, thinking of your friend. It would make a great birthday gift! ๐Ÿ™‚

I would really love to have been in that era at times. It’s hard to believe that was 200 years ago. We are still such a young country but experiencing the history of our country would be such a thrill! I wouldn’t want to interfere with the time-line, just watch from the sidelines and breath in the atmosphere. Dolly Madison was a fascinating woman in her time. We hear about the ‘founding fathers’ but what about the women who had to maintain the farms/plantations and businesses as their husbands took up arms against England?

Thanks so much for the well wishes!

  10. Loni, super duper congratulations on this release! I cannot wait to read it! I’ve been intrigued ever since I read your wonderful short story on one of the Mermaids free-reads. I’m with you on the dashing dukes answer. Brawny vikings never did anything for me. Maybe I just haven’t met the right one. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Thank you, Pintip! I hear you about the vikings–that could be my issue, too. Maybe it’s because I associate dark haired guys with dukes and blond haired guys with vikings and I go for dark haired guys… I don’t know. Or it could be, like you, I just haven’t met the right one. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hugs!

  12. Congratulations Loni on your debut release! I can’t tell you how excited I am for you. And I can’t tell you how excited I am to read this book! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. Yay!!!! I’m so excited to read this. I love ghost stories. ๐Ÿ™‚ If I could go back and find out more about a historical era, I’d love to be a pioneer for a day and travel across the country in a wagon. Of course, I’d only want to do that for a day. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I’ve always loved the ‘Westward Expansion’, Avery! One of my earlier ‘completed’ novels was set in that time frame. I’ve thought about going back and re-writing the story just because I loved that era and the excitement, hardships, adventure of traveling across rugged terrain in an unknown, wild climate. So much there to work with!
Thanks again for your help!! ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. What an exciting story! There are times I wish I could touch things and know about who used them or what they were used for. Love ghost stories. Ben Franklin was a ladies man, I’m sure he would have liked talking to you as well. Keep writing so I can keep reading. [email protected]

  15. Mary,
Thank you for stopping in! I know! I think Ben and my hero, James would have been great friends. I kept thinking of what it would have been like to witness the two out on the town together, having a pint and some of the stories they would have told. I plan to keep writing! Thank you again! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Loni, I’m late as usual, and yet so pleased and proud to have seen you just before your First Pitch Ever. Congratulations on the release, and may you enjoy many more events like this! Have fun!

    1. Thank you for being there for me throughout, Susan. It has been an exciting time. ๐Ÿ™‚
