Today is The Official Writers Vacation Monday (and Giveaway Winner Announcement)

Hanging out with writers this weekend (had a marvelous time btw), I decided it was time to take a vacation. No, not because I need a vacation from writers:). It’s just that writers juggle so much, work so hard, and think (all the time we are thinking, thinking, thinking) that I have decided to declare Monday, February 11, the  OFFICIAL WRITERS VACATION MONDAY. And not just a day to take a break from the day-to-day either. Pack your bags we are heading to an island! That’s right. (okay, it’s photo day, but you know, use your imagination, I am:). We’re going on a dream vacation. And today’s official writers monday destination is Maui. Okay? You in?

Here we go! ()

These were taken by me during a 2011 vacation to Maui. One of my favorite trips. Where would you go on Official Writers Vacation Monday if it existed and we had time travel, or free travel, or free vacations, or – okay, you get the drift on the free part:)?

Maui is where I’m spending the day.

But share – where have you been where you plan to go again (again and again). Or what is the best vacation romance you’ve ever read? I’d like to hear your recommendations on romance novels with that trope.

Finally, last week I interviewed Joy Daniels who had her debut release “Revving Her Up” from Samhain in January. I’d like to announce the winner of the copy of her ebook – and that lucky winner is Mary Jo Burke. CONGRATULATIONS! You will receive your e-book via email!

Thanks for joining me for a short trip to Maui on this rainy, rainy, rainy Monday in greater Washington, DC.Denny's Mermaids

  1. Denny!
I love your post for a vacation day for writers. Of course, right now I’ll use any excuse not to start revising. But I’m taking this vacation today! And I would go to Bali! I loved Bali. LOVED Bali! The scenery was wonderful. The people were friendly. The water was warm. The massages on the beach were amazing….Oh….to go back…
On this dreary, rainy Monday I might have to escape into a good vacation book. My favorite would have to be Judith McNaught’s EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE. Kate and Mitchell fall in love while vacationing in Anguilla. She’s supposed to be there with her boyfriend but falls in love with Mitchell while there. Then said boyfriend shows up. Lots of different plot twists here. Of course I just love anything by Judith McNaught.
Thanks for a fun post with dreamy pictures…

    1. Every Breath You Take sounds yummy! And Bali? Yes, I need to go to Bali – I’ve heard amazing things about going there. And yes, we need to treat ourselves! (I’m actually on deadline for a million things today and woke up this morning determined to get them done so that the rest of my week isn’t in constant turmoil:)…but Judith McNaught sounds like the book to grab.

  2. Happy Vacay Denny! I’m sitting here with a bulldog growling at me and a pug burping…yes I’d like to go on a fantasy vacation. Maui sounds great! I really like a lot of the Virgin River books by Robyn Carr. I don’t know if it qualifies as a vacation but it’s the type when the heroine sees an ad for a cute mountain town and she needs to get away from her old life. And of course these destinations always include her very own hero. Enjoy your Monday off 🙂

  3. Love Maui! One of my favorite islands to visit when I was stationed at Pearl Harbor on Oahu. Thanks for sharing on this gloomy day. Hugs and raising my cup of vanilla bean to you!

  4. Oh, wow, Denny, thanks for the pics! Maui is a great choice but anything warm and sunny with tropical drinks will do. Hmmm… of course we’re all longing for island weather, seeing as how we’re mermaids and all! And sometimes a vacation is exactly what you need to refocus and re-energize. Have fun in Maui, Denny! Sounds like a great day…

  5. OMG – what a great idea! How did you know I am in desperate need of a vacation?!?! I’m torn. I will either go to Napa Valley where I’ve never been, but, you know how I love me some wine. Or, I’ll join you in Hawaii. Decisions, decisions…
