Four Time Rita Nominee, Diane Farr!
It’s my pleasure to interview Diane Farr, four time Rita Award Nominee, YA and Regency Romance Author of eleven books! She’s not only a fantastic author, but she is also a proponent of the arts and works for the California Arts Council. Her Wicked Cool/Scary Cool paranormal YA series is among my favorites, following the adventures of a seventeen-year-old spell spinner named Zara and of course, with so many awards, I need not tell anyone how wonderful her Regencies are.
Anyway, without further ado, here is my video interview with Diane Farr!
Thanks so much for coming today Diane!
In honor of Diane’s newest release, Scary Cool, We’d love to know what makes you love a romance hero? Is your ideal the good guy who always has your back? Or is the edgy, dangerous kind of guy, like Lance in Scary Cool, more your type? Let us know! One lucky commenter will win an e-copy of the first book in the Spell Spinner’s series, Wicked Cool. (To comment you’ll find the comment button up on the left margin just under the date and above the twitter balloon.)

Good Morning Lady D’s! What a wonderful video interview–so proud of you Diana Mermaid and so nice to meet you Diane Farr 🙂
Diane, as a transplanted San Diegan, phrases like Wicked Cool and Scary Cool give me the warm fuzzy feeling of home. Love those titles. I have a transplanted niece also from San Diego out here with me and will have to look into your YA series for her.
What makes me love a romance hero is how comfortable he is in his own skin.
Have a great day ladies!

Great interview Diana and Diane!
What wonderful work you do for the California Arts Council. Of course there are probably way more states in other parts of the country that could use your help with stressing the importance of arts and creativity. So many people today just believe in pulling the grade however they can, but they neglect the things that will actually help them grow deep inside.
Every time I’m in California visiting my husband’s family, I’m struck by how much the people there are at the forefront of so many wonderful things. Their environmental efforts. The inclusive nature. The love of arts! We pass by or attend (depending whether we have the five kids with us) so many terrific art shows. If California only had change of seasons and less earthquakes, I’d be packing my bags.
I love YA, and I can’t wait to read your series. I haven’t started a new one except Darynda Jones’s new release, so I’m excited to put another book in my library. I’m terribly fond of the actual book because I like to share it with my daughters. Is it in paperbook as well as ebook form?
Good luck on the second one! I know this is an older video, so is it out yet?

Awesome interview! Looks like you had a blast together and makes me wonder what was edited out…
Romantic heroes. Interesting and thought provoking question.
Isn’t it weird how the men we often enjoy reading about are the ones we’d seriously go out of our way to avoid at all costs in real life? I don’t know what it is about that deeply flawed character who’s all edgy barnacles, but let the teensiest bit of tenderness peek through all that danger and shivers me timbers!

Hi everybody! :waving: We DID have a blast together; Diana and I have been “internet buddies” for years – but met for the first time the day before she taped the interview!
Thanks for your interest in my books … those of you who prefer hard copies can find Wicked Cool here: https://www.createspace.com/3500368
And Scary Cool here: https://www.createspace.com/4041681
I’ve got some of my Regencies out through CreateSpace too. But aren’t e-books wonderful? I love being able to pull out my phone when I’m in line at the post office and read-! So handy.
kittymommy, I had to laugh when I read your comment – that is SO true – the inspiration for one of my most-loved characters, Lord Rival, came when I was watching “Goldfinger” and thinking, “This guy is the sexiest man on earth, but in real life I’d just HATE him.” And I started wondering why it is that cold-blooded jerks can be so attractive … and then I wondered what would happen if I put the young Sean Connery in Regency clothes, dropped his James Bond persona into a book, and forced him to fall in love … and that’s how “The Fortune Hunter” was born! (“Falling for Chloe” is a prequel to “The Fortune Hunter,” if you want to start the tale at the beginning – but it’s not necessary.)
Happy reading, everyone! I’ll drop by later, if anyone has questions or comments – in the meantime, I’ll see you on Facebook …!
best,
Diane

Great interview, Diana! Diane, thanks so much for stopping by the mermaid lagoon. Your YA paranormal series sound wicked cool, so I’ll put in on my TBR list immediately. 🙂 There’s something exciting about the dangerous, edgy guy, but my vote’s always for the hero who has your back, at all costs.

In junior high, I thought myself a young, budding writer. Our assignment was to write a poem and after Diane read hers, I was embarassed to read mine. Her talent was obvious then and has only increased. What a treat to have so much of her work to read and enjoy!

Aw, knock it off, you guys.

I just LOVE Diane Farr!!!!!! She is my favorite author (well…..maybe a tie between her and John Herbert Emerson 😉 )
She has such a wonderful way with words creating great mind imagery. I do not yet have a copy of this book and would love one!
Loved the interview, by the way……
