Mermaid CarleneHello Fishy Friends and Happy Friday! Today we are welcoming erotic romance author, Nicola Cameron, to the lagoon and she’s brought a pretty hilarious bit about her muse. Nicola writes in many genres including, wait…let me rephrase that. What doesn’t Nicola write? While her muse may have been on hiatus for most of November, it’s clear she and Nicola have a pretty healthy relationship most days! We hope you enjoy this funny bit. Be sure to leave a comment too! Nicola is giving away a copy of Storm Season, the first book in her paranormal erotic Olympic Cove series, plus a sneak preview of the first chapter of Breaker Zone (Book 2). Zombies and Mermaids and Goodbyes

*Grabs a towel from the hot cabana boy who stands guard at the edge of the Waterworld Mermaid lagoon.*

So it seems this was my last dip into the Waterworld Mermaid lagoon and before we get to the good stuff (hello awesome contest!), I wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all my fishy sisters on the site. Y’all are a wonderful bunch of mermaids and I’m so glad to have gotten to hang out with you in the lagoon and in real life. Even though I’m hanging up my fins, I’m happy to buy the next round when we’re all together again. :)

But enough of that, let’s get on to the good stuff!!!

It’s almost Halloween and that means a good zombie read, am I right? Well here’s a fantabulous contest sponsored by one of my favorites, Emma Shortt. Her debut novel, Waking up Dead,…

Samhain Author Candice Gilmer and Editor Holly Atkinson Visit the Lagoon

Posted by Diana Belchase

This time it’s the men who get their own fairy godmother in Candice Gilmer’s UnderHisNose72webnew book Under His Nose in her Guys and Godmothers series.

When Cupid starts meddling and shooting arrows at helpless mortals, it’s up to fairy godmother Christy, to try and undo the damage. She wants her charge, Roark to fall in love with the girl of his dreams naturally, and under his own free will — not because he’s under Cupid’s arrow’s spell. Christy must help Roark realize that the girl of his dreams, his best friend since kindergarten, Stephanie, has been under his nose, all along.

All it takes is faith, trust, and fairy dust. A swift kick never hurts, either.

Candice will be giving away a copy of her e-book to someone who leaves a comment HERE or at the bottom of the screen (click on the title of the post to open the comment box).

Diana: I’m here today with the fantastic…

Happy Birthday to Me!

I’m in a great mood this week. I leave for my annual vacation on Friday. Plus, my birthday is next week. (I’m actually not excited about turning another year older but let’s all ignore that, shall we?)

I’ve been a very sparkly busy bee packing all the books I want to take to the beach with me this year. Since this post is all about me – because, you know, I’m the one writing it – I thought I would take this opportunity to give you all a short history of my beach reading interests.

Avery Flynn Climbs the Vine to Tell Us About Jax and the Beanstalk Zombies

Hello, lagoon! :)

Welcome Avery! Can you please tell us a little about yourself?

Let’s see … I drink a lot of coffee. I have an unfortunate addiction to Oreo cookies. I’m a bit of a loud mouth. Stop laughing, there are people in the world who talk more than me. … There just aren’t many of them.

When you were five years old what did you want to be when you grew up?

I have never wanted to be anything…

Fly Your Romance Flag and Win Design Services

Avery-mermaidIt’s Flag Day (at least for those of us in the U.S.)! And that means it’s time to fly your romance genre flag.

What you didn’t know Romancelandia had its own flag? It doesn’t, it has five. OK, Romancelandia has more than five genres, but come one it’s a lagoon not the ocean. Jeesh.

The uber-talented graphic designer (and one of my favorite people in the world), Elizabeth Babski with Babski Creative Studios, created these flags for several of the genres in romance. We’re flying these flags with pride in our lagoon today and want you to do the same. Pick your genre flag and fly it on Facebook, Twitter and Pintrest (be sure to mention you found the flags at www.waterworldmermaids.com), then enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below. Read or write in more than one genre? Pick your favorite one.

The winner will receive either one banner ad or a Facebook header from Babski Creative Studios. The design…

Fishy-Sisters-of-the-Heart – Happy Anniversary to us!

So, this week has been a celebration of the first two years of the Waterworld Robin MermaidMermaids. If you’ve been following along, we all met at the Washington Romance Writers Retreat in 2011.

All newbies.

At varying places in our personal and writing lives.

All different and unique.

But, we came together that weekend and bonded over a love of writing and then. . .over time. . . we grew to love each other.

Mermaid Blogoversary: Contemporary Day!

by Carlene, Dana, Diana, Robin and Susan Mermaid

Carlene: Holy abalone fishy sisters and friends!  The Waterworld Mermaids are two years old which means it’s been two years sinceMermaid Carlene what was easily one of the best experiences of our lives—The 2011 Washington Romance Writers Spring Retreat.  Which in turn means it’s been just as long since we made these precious memories at that retreat.  Keep in mind…we were all FIRST-TIMERS!  The Contemporary Genre Mermaids hope you enjoy our trip down memory lane:

Played Romance Jeopardy for the first time…with Roxanne Rustand as my teammate!  I jotted down something beautiful she said at the Unpublished Author Roundtable: “God doesn’t give the desire if he doesn’t give the talent.”

Pitched for the very first time…to Jenny Bent, who was awesome and let me know it was totally okay that my book was driven by the characters rather than the plot.  Seriously important because as a newbie, you’re not sure if these…

Celebrating Spring in the Pond with a Two-Book Giveaway!

by Denny S. Bryce

Denny's MermaidsI recently returned from a city in the Midwest, which will go unnamed (Minneapolis) where there was six inches of snow on the ground from a recent storm the night before. I used to live in the Midwest (Chicago). In fact I was born in the Midwest (Cleveland), so you could say I know a lot about snow, and aside from Christmas week – I HATE SNOW. Sorry skiers, ice skaters (except I used to ice skate and love it), snow boarders, whatever, the time of year that makes me most happy is SPRING! And as I look out my window this morning, I decided the Friday giveaway here at Waterworld Mermaid land is all about celebrating Spring – so tell me about your favorite romance novel that made you smile because there was spring and there was love in the air and if you don’t have a story — make one up!

And oh, last…
