Twelve Days of Christmas, Writers Style

We’ve all heard the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas song. Today I thought we’d have a little holiday fun and try it writer’s style, so here we go.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
Twelve supportive friends.
Eleven sold out book signings.
Ten craft classes.
Nine new story ideas.
Eight hours of writing time everyday.
Seven writing conferences.
Six Friday Man Wars.
Five New York Times bestsellers.
Four works in progress.
Three Swedish massages.
Two editors bidding.
And a multi-book contract.

I’d also throw in some diet coke, chocolate and a few bottles of wine! So tell me what would be on your holiday list this year?

  1. Awww, I love this song even more now! I honestly think you nailed it on the head and came up with a perfect version for writers, Dana.

The few extras I’d add on to my holiday list are: my own personal webmaster, a promotion guru, a swag genie and of course un-ending playlists piping Casey James, Depeche Mode, Kings of Leon, Sia Furler, just to name a few, throughout my writing cave.

    Happy Holidays Fishy Sister!

  2. Thanks Carlene! And Mary Jo, I agree wholeheartedly! Who wouldn’t love a little more uninterrupted time? I know I could get a lot more done. 😉

    1. Thanks Denny. I was a little worried I might look like a lush if I said twelve bottles of wine. LOL!

  3. Lol! I love it, Dana! This Christmas, my writing self wishes for productivity and focus! As well as positivity and faith. Do you think Santa has such things neatly wrapped as presents that he can leave under my tree?

  4. I hope so Pintip! And I hope Santa leaves a few of those things neatly wrapped under my tree as well! ;-D

  5. Dana,
I think I’d swap out ten and two. Have ten editors bidding and two craft classes. LOL.
Other than that, I love your list! 🙂
I’d have to have Starbucks salted caramel mocha on there somewhere plus more get-ready-to-start-my-day coffee.
Here’s to hoping we all get multi-book contracts this years. LOL
